The doctor says thank you

By Sandy De Jesus, information services, Arizona Southern Baptist Convention –

On May 28, I was one of 21 graduates from the Arizona Campus of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

Completing the Doctor of Ministry program took me a little over 3 years. A couple of my friends joked that the time seemed to fly by — for them. I’ll admit that there were a number of times when the time did not fly by for me. I questioned the wisdom of going back to school as a single parent, especially with two kids in high school. I wondered if there were ever going to be enough hours in the day to conquer the items on my to-do list. Throughout the process, though, I knew that God had a purpose, both in allowing me to refine my skills, and in pushing me to grow and to trust Him with each day.

It is easy for me to point to this one time period and see the faithfulness and support of Arizona Southern Baptists. AZSBC church members who give through the Cooperative Program regularly assist people like me to attend GGBTS and become better trained for ministry.

The truth is, Arizona Southern Baptists have supported me for much longer. From youth camps, to attending college and seminary, to my years on the staff of the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention, faithful people have been there. They have continued to encourage me and challenge me to live out the call God has for me, each and every day.

Arizona Southern Baptists, thank you for your faithfulness in giving, and in walking alongside students as they prepare for ministry.
