Empowering a new church

By Trey Van Camp, pastor of Heart Cry Gathering, Queen Creek –

In 2014, God gave me a vision to plant another location of Heart Cry. I immediately was overwhelmed with the logistics of how it would even be possible. After all, Heart Cry Church meets at a junior high school, and we are pouring a lot of our time, effort and money into getting our building constructed. However, I couldn’t shake God’s call of reaching the northern part of our town for Jesus. It’s amazing to see where we are now in 2016.

On December 13, 2015, Heart Cry Gathering had a preview service at Harkins Theatres in Queen Creek. With the support of Heart Cry Church, we were able to pack out the largest auditorium they had. It was a special moment as we asked God for His favor and to establish the work of our hands (Psalm 90:17). On January 10, 2016, we launched our first service with 140 people and 8 baptisms. We baptized three more on Easter.

We praise God for the support we have received through the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention. Through your giving to the Cooperative Program, we were able to secure a payment with Harkins and establish a 1-year contract. Through your giving, we were able to rent out another small theater so that our kids ministry could have a space to teach about Jesus.

I want you to be encouraged that every time your church gives through CP, you are empowering us to reach and teach everyone for Christ. You reach people like the 8 we baptized on launch Sunday. You reach a husband and wife with 3 kids whose relationship has been restored. You reach two brothers in high school who now have a sense of purpose and direction in life. You reach a newlywed couple that is now using their gifts to lead our welcome and worship teams.

In the words of my father, Billy Van Camp, “Our success will not win this community to Christ, but our sacrifice will.” We look forward to many more baptisms and many more disciples making disciples for the glory of God.
